Michael Dameski to perform Billy on Broadway

It was reported in the Sydney Morning Herald Arts and Entertainment Section Wed 18 Nov page 17 that another Australian Billy, Michael Dameski is Broadway bound.

Michael is the second Australian to be rostered to perform on Broadway, following Dayton Tavares .

Well this great news Not as long a contract but he will be worth seeing.

I posted on a thread on the Forum that got deleted about the freshness of the Australian Billys
Have a look at this Michael at a dance show 2007, prior to him becoming Billy. It does get better as it goes along

I imagine he will be a riot in NY as will be Dayton

The other Australian Billys are now too old except one ,Daniel. Hopefully he is on the horizon.

This is Brilliant news.
Very happy to see that the talent left here after the Australian show closed too early will get the chance to show more audiences on the Broadway stage just how incredible they are.

I was almost certain to try and go to NY with Dayton performing but now with two of the Aussie Billy's on stage the decision is unavoidable. Have booked six shows 13th to 17th March on Broadway then going to Chicago to catch the first four shows there.

There may be a small Aussie invasion of NY by Oz fans over the next months

I agree about having to visit New York again, to see what changes the Oz Billys have bought to the NY version.
Both are electric performers.

Was in two minds as it is almost 24 hour flight plus at least 2 hours stopover in LAX. I had not thought of combining Chicago with a NY visit but that has to be on the cards.

I will be in London first week july and my stopover is only to see the new Billys, I have my fingers crossed I might see Charlie from the Cheeky Monkeys {from this years Britains Got talent}

It was actually last years final 2008, but I think that you have posted this in the wrong thread!!!

Michael so deserves Broadway. America is sooooooo blessed that it's finally going to see the World's Best Billy! Ever! Anywhere! Michael has no peer, with acting, singing, dancing (Dayton is almost equal [only my biased opinion]) and just overall grace and charm.

Seeing him perform as a 10yo at Star City 4 years ago, during Brent Street's end of year function, where he knocked my sox of, to now seeing him performing at Broadway, is one incredible privilege, one which will live with me always, no matter what my 2yo grandson, Asher, ends up doing in his life! Michael, I am so proud of you!

Michael is going to knock 'em dead, and I cannot wait to see him on the Broadway stage!

What fantastic news to see Dayton, Michael and now Genevieve reprising roles in other productions of the show. Just the perfect recognition of the first class job they've done down in Australia. Stephen Daldry definitely was not making anything up when he said he'd seen some of the best performances ever when he came down to watch the last 3 Australian shows when it closed (closed far too early).

New York ~ 13 to 17th March 2010 * Chicago ~ 18th to 20th March 2010

Glad the news is again out there about Michael joining Dayton. Thus the above dates with six shows in NY which should give me a good chance of seeing all 4 of the Broadway Billy's performing in March but especially Dayton and Michael.

I love the show and was going to Chicago just to see BETM there but now that Genevieve is performing as Mrs W what a brilliant bonus! Glad I took tickets to the first four shows.

Michael is still in Australia but I suspect now the news is out and visa's have been approved it wont be long till Michael and his mum make the long flight to New York.

Fantastic this thread has been unlocked It may be premature to be speculating about when Michael will/can start.
My info was he was still in Sydney 2 days ago, but cannot help feeling how great it would be if Michael is in the circle now, if he could have arrived in time to be in the audience for Tommys last night.

It is midday Saturday here in Melbourne, Tommys show is still not over. If he was able to fly out friday he might have just made it, it is almost a 24 hour flight. If not then to be there for Daytons first show is still a highlight.

Hello fellow Aussies,
Just thought I'd put my 2 cents in re travelling to America. - 24hr plane trip is nothing, it's over in a blimp.
If you keep yourself busy each day (up at 9 bed at whatever) you don't feel the jet lag at all.. It's the return that kills you.
BE related - Make sure you start coming into the chat room through the day (generally around lunchtime) that's when the American fans are online. Great bunch of people! When you get there they are the most friendly and helpful people you meet (they know all the tricks of the cheap tix. )
I know its something really minor, but the toilets. There aren't many. Only one set on the dress circle so either go before the show starts or make sure you whip out of your seat at the start of interval.
But enjoy! Totally jealous of those who are going to see Aussies on stage.
But, I got a photo with Dayton n' Liam the week #7 annouced he was over there
